Research Centre
The Centre carries out research activities to monitor trends within the educational system, both on macro (system or policy-oriented) and micro (individual school) levels. Responsibilities of the Research Centre include the analysis of changes in public education and vocational training, their interpretation in Hungarian and international contexts with a view to initial and in-service teacher training. Research activities focus on quality issues of public education as well as those of its efficiency and effectiveness. A comprehensive report ?Education in Hungary? is published every three years. The Centre collects and manages a rich national database of educational technology enabling researchers to make analyses. It also provides data for OECD INES Network C and Teacher Survey regularly.
Centre for School Development and Integration
The main responsibility of the Centre for School Development and Integration is to carry out research activities aimed at the improvement of public education - in the context of lifelong learning - and to pilot development programmes in various subjects, cultural domains and scenes of learning. In partnership with schools and other institutions it carries out research, development and innovative activities related to teaching pupils with special educational needs and those threatened by failure and dropping out, let them be of school age or beyond.
Centre for Standards and Examination Development
The main responsibility of the Centre for Standards and Examination Development is to carry out development and research activities aimed at improving the standards of the content of public education and the examination system. It carries out activities in the fields of assessment, innovation and in-service training related especially to developing examination specifications and tasks. The Centre also contributes to the content development and assessment of particular fields of (national) minority education.
Publishing Centre
The main responsibility of the Publishing and Information Centre is to publish the outcomes and disseminate the products of the research and development work carried out by the Institute to a wide professional audience. A leading educational monthly, Új Pedagógiai Szemle (New Pedagogical Review) is edited and published here. The Centre is also responsible for all electronic publications of the Institute and editing its website.
